Granida is divided into 25 provinces, which elect a governor every five years. The provinces vary in both size and population. The largest province is Spenser, the smallest Heltonia. A number of provinces is named after its capital or largest city, e.g. the provinces Portland and Elisabethtown. According to the 2010 Granida Census, the most populous provinces are Elisabethtown, Portland, New Seeland, Oxford Bay, Bolton, Midfield and Bayside, all of which are located on the East Coast Peninsula or around the Portland Bay.
Historic provinces[]
In the seventeeth and early sixteenth centuries, Granida was a loose collection of independent provinces. These provinces were: Henryville, Antworph, Newton, Portland, New Navonia, the Free Western Company, and New Seeland. They were later united into a republic state.
