The Kingdom of Viola is a democratic Kingdom in Rodenia. It is bordered by Vistania in the west and the Free Republic of Noel in the south.

History[]

Early History[]

Viola was colonized by Sardinians in the 1520s. They arrived at what is now Brancusi. Those colonists also discovered an inland body of water on Viola's west side, naming it Santa Maria Bay.

Viola became a prosperous colony, since it had lots of natural resources. The rich merchants and colonial authorities became very rich off of this, but the commoners remained very poor. In 1599, the people revolted agains the Sardinian colonists. After five years, the people finally removed the Sardinians, with a decisive victory at Marenco.

Kingdom[]

In the early 17th Century, Present-day Viola was actually several smaller states under an alliance. It was only until King Charles I of Viola and his descendants, through marriage and warfare, united the warring states into a single country. The kingdom thrived and was at peace with its neighbor Vistania for many years. When the monarchy was overthrown there, Viola had some unrest. In 1909, communist Yuri Umendi took control of the government, and passed it on to his son, Yuri Umendi II. He was a ruthless man who ended up financing communist raids in Vistania and took over Noel in the 1930s. He was assassinated in 1972. In 1982, the Congress of Viola gave Noel its independence.
